Step-by-Step DY Series Gearbox Replacement Process




Disconnecting the Battery and Electrical Components
Disconnect the vehicle’s battery before starting the gearbox change process. Locate the negative battery terminal and remove the cable using a wrench or pliers. Secure the cable away from the battery to prevent accidental reconnection during the repair.
Removing the Driveshaft and Other Connected Parts
With the battery and electrical components disconnected, remove the driveshaft and other parts connected to the gearbox.
Draining Transmission Fluid
Locate the transmission fluid drain plug underneath the gearbox. Start this process only when the engine is cold to avoid burns from hot transmission fluid.
Removing the Old Gearbox
Disconnect the gearbox from the engine and vehicle chassis after draining the transmission fluid. Remove the clutch cover and torque converter access cover to access the gearbox internals. Detach the gearbox from the engine carefully to avoid damaging components like the 2nd gear.
Installing the New Gearbox
Carefully lower the new gearbox into position, aligning the mounting points and ensuring it sits level. Secure the gearbox using the appropriate bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer-specified torque using a calibrated torque wrench.
Reconnecting Components and Refilling Fluid
Reconnect the power steering fluid pump fitting and tighten the cover screw securely. For automatic transmissions, refill the transmission with the appropriate type and amount of automatic transmission fluid. Use a funnel to avoid spills and ensure the fluid level is at the correct mark on the dipstick.
Test After Replacing Gearbox
After replacing the gearbox, perform these tests:
